1932 Willys 6-90

Post by Gojeep »

You didn't think I would let my custom W1LLYS plates go to waste did you!

Image
Well this will be wife's Lisa very first car! A 1932 Willys 6-90

Image
Looking exceptionally pleased with her purchase. :)

Image
Been in storage for 60 years! First 20 in a paddock in Koraleigh, then here for the last 40 in Heathcote.

Image
Getting ready to load her up.

Image
Ready to hit the road home.

Image
Quick stop in Heathcote for lunch first at the same exact spot I stopped bringing the first Willys Truck home too!

I knew you'd get bored, that will fix the problem. It looks like a great starting point.

What have you got planned for this one or is it still to be decided.

How come you didn't tow it with you Hot Rod Truck?

Also will you be adding a second story to your workshop?

Seriously it looks to be quite tidy and should turn out well.

What drivetrain will it get?

I live in the home town of Willys and I have never seen a 1932 Willys before.

Similar to the Truck with probably 300C as a donor. Wide body 3-4 inches but no chop. Convert to a coach model.

Because I was buying it off a restorer that even kept bits of termite infested timber that had mostly turned to dust! Turning up in a wide bodied hemi powered truck would of set off the alarm bells. ;)

Lisa trying out the driving position. :)

Image
Not a bad size at all inside. If it wasn't for the big taper in the body width towards the front, 340mm or 13.5" of taper, it would be the same as our Cherokee.

Image
Came with the original wire wheels but missing 3 caps.

Image
Termites really got to the front doors and ate all the frame away!

Image
6 cylinder engine, L-head, 192.9 cu.in., 65 h.p

Image
Even got a crank handle which still turns over the engine!

Image
Tiny distributor!

Image
Oils clean.

Image
Door skins are good.

Image
What they looked like when restored.

Image
This is a 2 door coach version that I'm going to turn ours into. :)

Image
US advertising for it. Willys Overland 1932

Australian advertising for it.

More advertising for the Willys Overland and Willys Knight.

I had the wrong engine listed first not realising the Overland and Knight versions were different.

Apart from the termite damage the car looks to be in really good condition with very straight panels. The grille especially as it would be a proper bastard to repair.

Would you try and remove some of the body taper?

Will you try and start the engine. if it turns over freely it would be too tempting for me to not try.

Congratulations to Lisa on her first car purchase and it will be awesome to see what you two do with the Willys. It's actually a refreshingly different starting point to a hot rod build 8)

Congratulations that's a very nice find. I like the grille and the horizontal louvers on the hood sides look very elegant.
