Y block ignition part numbers

Sorry, asking to be spoon fed here, but have picked up a 64 F100 with 292. Driving the wheels off it, takes nerves of steel with a 58yr old steering box on dodgy rural back roads. Dont know the first thing about Y-blocks, except they make a beautiful noise. After part numbers for a 292 dizzy cap, rotor and points before I walk into Repco and deal with a youngster behind the counter. Cheers Mick F

... About 1959 the ball bearing breaker plate was replaced with a hinged plate which pivots on a single pin. The vacuum advance arm is curved. These units use the same points, cap and rotor as the '57-'59 units and later 289-302.

To save messing around with points. There are now modern Hei Distributors available, ready to run and set timing and forget. "ProFlow for one is available in OZ for Y Blocks for under $200. I upgraded our 289 powered Fords with HEI units that use a common Bosch Module. or if you want to retain the original and improve it. Look for a "Pertronix" points replacement item. Just bolt in replacing the mechanical points and a magnetic sleeve over the dist rotor cam does the switching.
