T spring to model A

Post by steve the ford guy »

Does a "T" spring used in a rear "A" cross member need leafs removing or are they ok to run as is.? Happy to run it as original. Should look kind of neat having an original 100 year old stock "T" part underneath, can't say that with just a pair of coilovers.

The T spring is shorter so the car will sit lower. It's also a thinner spring so you need to pack it a bit to stop it walking around. If memory serves you can leave one A spring in there to hold it.

Thanks A4ME, Yes it's leaves are 2 inches, so it leaves a space of quarter inch between spring and cross member both on the front and back. The springs about 4 inches longer overall to the spring perches.
Definitely a lower profile height wise compared to the A model.
I think an adapter may be needed on the top so it doesn't rock side to side and to take up the extra gap using the 2 inch spring width. Hoping this isn't too complicated.
