Removal tool for 52 Customline fender badge
Anyone know what tool is used to remove press on metal clips holding the badge on a 52 Cusso fender?
I'm going to try and repair this fender as a project.

Are they the rectangular spring clip style? Carefully I used to screw them off with the end of long nose pliers, twisting and exerting pulling pressure that created a shallow spiral thread, the pot metal pins on the badge can break easily if one is in a hurry. Trick was to keep the pulling/twisting action straight. You may try squeezing the ends ,arching the clip to open up the hole.

Thanks Frank...Tried an image search for clips and a matching removal tool but no luck, they may come supplied with NOS badges, kits on ebay are different type. Thinking I'd use a cutoff wheel to gently cut the tangs and buy replacements, but that option looks off the table, maybe best to try removing them like you said, and see what happens.

frank is correct just push both ends together and it will open up the hole then once open you can flatten them and use them again

I have even put a small screw drive behind each tab at the same time and twisted them to pull the tangs away from the pin. Then lift up.

I would insert and push a small prick (one angled if necessary) form each side of the clip and gently push and turn both at the same time
Some of that stuff was made from shit diecast pot metal and was not engineered to be removed
Good Luck

Those are known here as rectangular speed nuts, and are available at my local hardware store. I usually just cut them with a Dremel tool and replace them.
People who think they know it all, bother those of us that do.

Thanks enjenjo. Google hasn't shown them in a "trim clips" image search, good to have the right description.
