Rod, could you look into why the password for joining is not working?
I have been told that $australia$ is not working?

Currently the newest Member of the Forum.

I just registered as a new user so I'm registered as Zuffen (may still be locked out as haven't tried getting in for a day or two) and as Fargoman.

Slowly getting a hold of the way this thing works.

If anyone finds problems, please mention it here or PM me.

They say Rome wasn't built in a day and me figuring out this Forum will take a lot longer.

Time to tell all and sundry the Forum is working, fairly well.

The Forum is moving forward slowly.

Over the weekend I went through 8,163 new Member applications.

Of those applications I salvaged about 12 potential Members and 8,150ish Spammers. I apologise to any attempting Members who were chucked as a Spammer. If this happened please apply again.

To obtain membership I'm sending each applicant an email with a few questions that pretty well only car people would know the answers to. The answers are available if you Google them but Spammers couldn't be bothered.

Of the emails I sent out 1 came back with some weird answers so they won't be spamming us.

Most of the others are now Members here or returning Members.

A couple of issues yet to be sorted, the main issue is you can't search membership due to a broken link, but it doesn't look unsolvable by a total computer illiterate like me.

I've blundered around the last 2 weeks but things are looking much better.

The Forum has been upgraded to the latest version, which probably doesn't make any difference to users but it has fixed a lot of problems.

Dave Petrusma, who ran the Forum before me has been extremely helpful is getting things moving.

Now is the time to tell everyone you know we're back in business and they can now sigh up and have fun.

Thanks for all your hard work! This is the best way to follow an individual build and share knowledge and skills. On Facebook everything gets lost as you scroll down. I still think the best way to save photos is to have an external storage place like your own website such as the one Marcus has set up for his GoJeep project, then link them in.

Please let me know if you would like us all to contribute financially.
I never make the same mistake twice, I do it 5 or 6 times just to be sure !!!

Thanks for letting me join. I had an old username of BS! But lost the associated email account and could remember my password. Appreciate the effort being put in to get this forum back.

Cheers

It's great to see the Forum up and almost fully functional.

One person we have all sort of forgotten is Dave Petrusma. Without Dave this Forum would have died years ago.

He almost singlehanded kept it alive.

I know the last 18 months have been difficult but I think we're over the worst of it.

Personally Dave has helped me out a lot in the last couple of months as we transition the Forum.

So to Dave, a big thankyou for your tireless work.

Time for an update.

I think most people using the Forum will find it works like it used to. Posting articles and photos is just the same but some functions don't work, such as being able to search for a Member by Username. Not major but would be nice to have working.

The majority of the problems are to do with Administration, things like who can make changes to the Forum, allow new Members in and Moderate the Forum. Most Members won't come across these problems but it makes it very difficult to run the Forum.

I'm working with a Member of phpbb Forum (this is the system that runs the Forum) to solve these issues. It makes sense to pay someone who knows exactly what they are doing to sort it out rather than blundering around and stuffing the whole deal up.

I intend to open the Forum up so members of the public can read all sections of the Forum but need to register to interact with it. They will need to register to post or try and contact any of Our Members.

To make this all happen is way over my head but I believe we have the right person trying to sort the issues we have.

We may need to find a new host as from what we can work out the existing host isn't all that interested in the future of the Forum and it appears hosting is a sideline of their business. Plus it's hosted in the US and local hosting would be my choice but I would work with phpbb on this as they may have better options.

We need to spread the word the Forum DOES have a future and more active Members will help bring it back to what it was. Probably Australia's best source of information for people building our style of cars and an outlet for spreading information. Plus it's good fun!
