I'm using the same brackets. Monroe 31089, or Gabriel 82001 The application is 1962 VW Beetle. There is a range of years, and this falls somewhere in the middle. Front and rear of the Beetle use the same shock.

I have looked at my VW shocks ,no visible part number. On this f/e subject , I got somewhat peeved. I may have to lower the front end and of course remove the springs. My f/e is now fitted to the F1. When I did bushes etc and front end was loose, I used the large curved threaded bar down the guts s per the OEM Jag tool for the job. I found another method on a UK Jag Forum where in vehicle each bolt holding the spring plate was removed one at a time replaced by threaded rod and retained via nut. Once done, each nut is wound down progressively lowering the plate. The pictorial and write up quoted 1/2" UNF . I hunted some ,purchased qty 2 3 foot lengths, and a few days back they arrived. I looked at them and thought hang on these look too thick, removed one bolt from a plate ,they are more like 3/8" UNF.   . I re checked the saved web article. Yep 1/2" it says.
