Thanks for that , only 7 hours from home but can’t get more than 5 kms from home at the moment . Hard to tell but probably not much better than what I’m working with .

Update time . The front rusty sections have been replaced on the cowl and a new pillar fabricated with plenty of strengthening to support the hidden door hinges . My neighbour is a fitter and turner and was called upon to machine up some new brass bushes for the hinges , taking out all the slack . The door frame has been fully welded up with corner plates for strengthening , except for the top window track which I have raised to close up the gap to the top of the door frame . It has taken a fair bit of setting up and fine tuning but it is nearly there . Next will be sorting out the lower panels and how they will sit and seal to the sill etc

The original doors would never have functioned that good, even when they were new.

So this is what I thought would be the finished frame

Till I took the winder supports out which are bolt in for maintenance,and thought I might add another vertical tube because I think the hole looks too big . That’s tomorrow’s job

looking at the amount of work you have put into the 2 doors made realise that I have to do 4, then again I'm glad that I have I tourer and don't have to worry about window gear.....

I wont be saying that driving through a Tassie winter day when its on the road!

The sun was out today so I took a break from construction and did some deconstruction on the caprice . I removed the seats , gear selector, accelerator pedal and steering column , which collapsed in the accident and actually broke one of the mounts off , making it unusable . So what do I do with the parts ? Mock them up to see how they look of course . I will have to change the floor base around the shifter pivot point but apart from that it should all work

A slight modification to clear the pivot point needed here
