1937 ford pickup build

In 2011 I bid on the pickup on ebay on an impulse not expecting to win it .When I did I realized I had a long trip in my uncomfortable truck from Central Queensland to Sydney. I decided to make a road trip with my son.The pickup was in a less then desirable area of Sydney and when we arrived the owner was having a full on argument with his middle eastern neighbours so we loaded as fast as we could and got the hell out of there.I kept the cab and sold off the rest of the gear.I then had a new chassis made for it

I am running an EFI ford and auto with narrowed EB diff and Rodtech front end with power steering.A friend showed me how to steel out the body .We spent days trying to get the measurements the same on both sides but we found that when we made the sides measure the same the passenger door opening was 10mm to small so it looks like it was out of wack from the factory. I then moved to the Sunshine Coast and lost my access to my body guy so I had to learn by trial and error how to repair the body.
I couldn't believe my luck when I got a full set of guards form a guy that lived within walking distance from home,I got a 35 grille and a 36 hood and managed to get them to fit with a little trimming to the hood.I then started the daunting task of repairing the rust and cracks in the body and guards.I bought an old bead roller and made an English wheel both of which I had no idea how to use.

wow it looks like you have learnt a lot along the journey, from as you said no knowledge to where you are now, fantastic effort, the pick up is starting to look amazing, keep up the great work

Thanks for the encouragement. There was a lot of failures and a lot of youtube videos especially Lazze tutorials.I will be glad to see the body finished and painted.Mudgy I had a Rod shop build the chassis and that other chassis was for a Morris commercial from memory

I'm up late, re-doing my fuel lines and rear brake lines.... Mk II idea seems better

Best way to learn is to just have a go, also Youtube has made things easier these days.

Hi Chris I have made a tray for it when I got sick of working on old steel





I also made running boards for it as well.I tried to get some bent up but the people I went to either couldn't or didn't want to so I came up with an odd way of doing them.
As the front of the board sweeps up I bent a piece of exhaust tube to match the body then welded flat sheet on to form the desired shape.I was planning on cutting the extra pipe out when I had it welded but thought it gave it a fair bit more strength so I left it

Are the top of the bed sides just welded on pipe, or did you have them rolled?

The tops of the sides are pipe welded on as it seemed the easiest way for me to get what I wanted.The tailgate skin came from a company in Yandina called BMV. http://www.google.com/search?client=fir ... ngineering They do quite a few different makes .
