Re: california fires
My son was leading a team of Assessors in after the Victorian fives about a decade ago. They were identifying car vins, and writing them on the bonnets, etc. those fires were so hot that mag wheels and aluminium transmissions had melted. Most of the number plates had also melted off the cars..

Re: california fires
Hard to imagine but its happening again. (Still?)
Hollywood, LA etc. Quite a few famous stars have been affected. Yes, they (mostly) can afford to rebuild or start anew but what about their personal collections, photos, movies, awards, trophies. Some mighty irreplaceable stuff there!

Yeah. I've changed my signature. The old one was out of date...

Re: california fires
Climate change will have sexual relations (Definition - refer Bill Clinton) with our only planet within 50 years if we don't take drastic action very soon !!!
Having sexual relations with our only planet is not a viable option ...

Re: california fires
Gotta agree with that Col. Many folks are unaware that the climate has gone hot and cold since recorded time. Somehow a new created industry decrees that it is all new and we can stop it.And somehow taxing the daylights out of us will fix things Some loonies even put a 2 degrees target rise as a goal. We have ice melting on Greenland today as "evidence". Ignoring that the place is returning to it's state that existed before the Vikings vacated over 500 years ago. Why ? because it was becoming to cold for them to continue farming. They left the place to the native Inuits who were more adaptable. . Today everything hot or cold is a "new record". Go back to the Western Front WW1 . "The winter of 1916-17 was described as "the coldest on record" at that time.Oldcol wrote:...read a lot of science FICTION do you Greg?
