Well done mate. Great feeling getting out for the first time, but a scary one as well as you don't know what to expect!
Hopefully it just needs more atf to fix the auto problem,
Marcus
To try where there is little hope, is to risk failure.
Not to try at all, is to guarantee it!

Was never going to happen. That DeSoto grille was wall art for years. I was surprised how well it polished up. I just need the ends from a 54 DeSoto grille to finish it off.

Great to see it driving. Is that fly by wire ? NAG-1 trans ? Why is throttle so touchy in reverse ?? Things you will overcome I am sure.. I always loved the hornets, looked chopped from the factory.
I never make the same mistake twice, I do it 5 or 6 times just to be sure !!!

The factory trans controller had "torque reduction" when you selected reverse. Something like that, anyway. I have a TCM 2800 trans controller and haven't factored it in yet. So reversing uphill is a very touchy exercise!

Do you have a factory torque converter ?? I have a 2200 stall and although I have only driven up and down driveway it seems to make it soft and slushy at the low end, and likely to get the engine into a decent powerband if I nail it. Yet to tell. All the charts I look at start above 2000 rpm.
I had a 65 Buick Riviera with a 401 nailhead and an early TH400 with a 'switch the pitch' torque converter. It had 2 stall speeds, 1700 normal but there was a micro switch on the throttle pedal and when you flattened it the stall speed jumped to 2200. Like driving with a 6 speed auto, it really jumped when you hit it at 80 mph... Loveliest car I ever owned, so advanced for its time, belonged to Reg Grundy RG-077 rego.
I never make the same mistake twice, I do it 5 or 6 times just to be sure !!!

That is certainly very well documented.
Gives me something to aim for.

Wow, very detailed, takes all the mystery and fun out of diagnosing a fault !! Mine is several messy folders with lots of notes and scribble.. Actually still surprising myself when I discover which fuse controls what !! Now using the re-set type.
What software did you use to do all those circles and diagrams over the photos ??
