Australian Hot Rod History website launched.

Post by peddro »

Some members might be aware of Povi Pullinen's work in the relaunched Hop Up magazine and also Street Machine's Hot Rod magazine. He's now created a new effort to gather and centralise our hot rod heritage online.

If you're inclined, check it out:

thanks to Povi for getting this up and running, there's a couple of my Riverside Drags pics
in there, and thanks for crediting them to me, that's something you don't often see.
I have posted many of my Riverside pics on here, and the HAMB, over the years and not many people thank
you for doing so.
Spurs me on to post more, and I have leads on other pics taken by older brothers of friends, will chase them up.

Here in NZ we have a "Historical NZ Hot Rodders" page.
There is a lot of incorrect info posted there as well.
Good thing with it though, is people with the right info will fix it pretty quickly.
A joint effort from all those involved going back to the early '60's.

Thanks Pedro. What a great site. And an important idea to centralise an archive of the beginnings of our sport, both street and strip. Few could have even imagined it would evolve into the WSID facility we have today.
Lets not forget that CID put Australian drag racing on the map when they hosted Big Daddy Garlits ( among others) back in the seventies.
The older I get, the more everyone else can bite my arse.
