Must be my PC. I have scanned some Westmead stock car pics but can"t get ém to paste onto here. I'll get my grandson to look at it for me.

Re: Old Sydney Speedway
Thanks for those pics, they're great old photos, unfortunately I can't recognise any of them off hand. Gees we used to have a ball in those days. Young & silly. Put the wind up myself a few times, but what an adrenalin rush ! !
At the moment we're on the road to Alice Springs for the Ulysses AGM, so I'll only be able to go on line irregularly. It's a bugger going to a motor bike meeting in a car & caravan, but that's life !

This'll bring back a few memories Ken. I'd forgotten how fast those buggers went even with all that barwork.

Howard Revell in 78 - looks like recently? Maybe Grafton or Ekka a few years back?
That car will never race again! He's just restored it to original trim, had it repainted by the same bloke in Canberra !
Here against Tatnell at Liverpool 1976:
With Johnny Rutherford on board at Tralee in 1977:
No signature yet, still working on it. Bit like the Roadster, really!

Re: Old Sydney Speedway
Here's some photos of Howard's restoration of 98. When he came back from his season in the States in 1978, he bought this car back, and painted it in new livery with Selby's backing.
Anyone who would have seen him race at LCR or Tralee or other tracks up to early 80s would have seen this trim. It was changed under the new ownership and stayed that way when he got it back. Now it's had a full resto, and is lookin' TEERIFFIC!
It's going to the Bathurst Motor Museum to live for a while.

Great old shots. Dean Donovan has a big bunch of excellent period Kilburn/ Rowley Park prints & snaps for sale in his antique shop opposite Central Market in Grote Street, Adelaide. I can't afford 'em.

Mate, mine is still gathering parts - I'm almost ready to start hanging F & R axles - I just need to get wheels plated (happening next couple of weeks).Grazza wrote:Where's your's?
Meanwhile, Larry has finished his - here's a few shots from Vintage Day at Caboolture back in March - its maiden run.
We're making plans to come up your way soon - Carina in Bundy is re-opening in September, and there is talk of a track available on the way to Torbanlea.

Re: Old Sydney Speedway
Some old stuff; re-posted for new readers.
Barry Mannion in his younger days at The Royal, driving the McGee Tornado with Offy. I would put this as late 60s
The Tornado in 1967 with Lenny Brock after his win in the AGP - Phil McGee was the youngest crew chief ever. At this time it ran a very successful Falcon 6, that found its way into a record-running ski-boat (or hydroplane?)
Barry Mannion's ride today - Edmonds with a Sesco. He still pedals hard on club days, 50 years after his prime:
