Hi Guys.

I reckon it's time to hook this thread back into gear, so here are a few I took back at the '70s Street Rod Nationals. I went to all three, '75, '77 and '79 and have colour slides from each, most of which I haven't scanned yet. Hope you like them.

Thanks Steve, good to see some of the 'old time' cars in those pics. Most are probably back up on the rails these days!

Forget the cars - what about that HAIR!!! Did we really have our hair like that back then? I know mine wasn't, the RAAF didn't quite like it like that, but a lot of civi mates did. Now I guess a lot of us would just like to have hair

I'll see what I have of the yellow 48, Petrolhead. If I find one I'll scan and post it.

Spot on with the Ektachrome, Spoggie. It was beautiful film for shooting cars...well, most things really. Cheers, mate.

The Red '32 hiboy I think was Peter Leech's car with a small block Chev.
Peter moved to Tasmania about the time of the '75 Nationals at Nerrandera where the '32 was easily recognised and where Peter still resides.

Things never changed . I got out in 73 . Tried growing hair to at least" melt into the civilian population" . Got grabbed by the Warrant Officer Disciplinary for a haircut one day before discharge when I went to the guardhouse during the day to get one of the many signatures that you had to get from various sections for clearance . In this case guard roster . It was in dayshift hours . I had to report to him in the morning after a hair cut       . Any way finished all the other clearances and went back to the guard room that night and got a signature from the duty guard commander . :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D .
Next morning when this merchant of misery was expecting me . I handed in the forms at HQ and was a civvy and out on the highway.          . I must admit to being nervous when I stopped at the guard gate thinking of this bloke looking out a window and racing out to slam the boom down on me      . .

I was just looking through these great old photos, again!!

Did anyone notice the guy in the dickie seat of the green 34 coupe? got the old Craven A well and truly smokin, right next to the fuel filler mounted in the quarter!!!

Safety seemed a whole lot less important back then.
Cheers,
Terry

That's going straight to the pool room!

Toss up between being sent into orbit by an explosion or losing your front teeth due to a sudden stop Terry.
