Yeh, good on ya Brett

Seriously though, you might have too. It should have a little extra mumbo with the 6.

Just out of interest, what is the HP difference?
Cheers,
Terry

Only about 30 more horses and torks but you don't have to whip it quite so hard to find them.

Well after a long long wait for the engine balancing to be completed I've finally been able to make a bit more progress.

Image
The old liners were honed and reinstalled. These liners are as hard as granite and rarely need replacing.

Image
Bottom end has huge bearings. Crank is forged and nitrided as stock. This one only needed a linnishing and new standard bearings.
The bottom end was fully balanced. Being a V6 they have counter weights on the flywheel and front pulley so it's important to get them all matched.

Image
I had the heads rebuilt and assembled professionally. I ported them slightly (just finished off the job Luigi didn't complete). Valves and cams are stock. All were in very good condition.

And now she's finally in place

Everything fits under the bonnet except for the bloody alternator.
I'm going to have to find something smaller.
Any suggestions as to a small 60ampish unit?

Now comes the long slog of wiring etc. And I still have to source a V6 tailshaft.

Looks fantastic sitting in there Brett, you might have to think about putting a little bump in the panel for the alternator, might be your only option, I know I had to do it on the 36.

Looks great Brett. The jappas made a shitload of very small high output alternators and they are easy to get. Dave

Brett, coming along nicely. :)

As previously mentioned, absolutely love the rocker covers. :D

I pretty sure you mentioned you were going to change them.

I reckon they look grouse as they are. 8)

Ok you guys, time to crank up your volume.

This was only the second successful start attempt after I found that I had wired the ignition power supply relay arse about and blew a fuse.

I ended up using an alternator from a Daihatsu Pyzer. Real small thing from an EFI car with all the usual mod cons so it should cope in the alfarod, I'll post some pics of it later.

Now to connect up the exhaust so as not to piss of the neighbours any more than necessary. You should have seen the dog take off

I'm still trying to trace an elusive V6 tailshaft so that I can transmit those mighty 160 horses out to the back wheels.
