As I was reading your Post I thought "He wouldn't step on that paint, would he"

too nice to scratch!

Looking superb.

Will do at least paint protection film on that and other parts of the truck that will see wear or stone damage. Don't think we can afford to do the whole truck.

Simply stunning, well done young man.
You should be very proud of what you've achieved.

Thank you. Never thought I could do it to this level for sure, just kept plugging away at it.
"Young man", seeing I'll be a senior card holder in a few weeks, doubt that I will be called that again. :D

Next is adding the seals to the bottom of the tonneau. Using a double bulb seal to help stop any water leaking under them. As I am not near an edge to follow, I used a grease pencil to mark where it needs to go.

Image
I prefer a mitred corner so I can glue the very end of them together before pressing the corner down firmly. This will keep any dust and water from getting inside the seals.

Image
My wife Lisa helped me lift on the tonneau and it all lined up perfectly.

Image
The linear actuators were reinstalled and are working perfectly. The lid only weighs just under 25kg or 55 pounds.

Image
The stainless steel trunk I made is even back in place.

Image
I also got the linear actuators painted semi gloss black so they would blend in a bit better.

Image
It all has come together really well I think.

This truck would or certainly should win any show it was entered in.

The fit and finish is simply amazing.

Now, go back to the very first Post on page 1of this Thread and compare the before and after shots.

Hardly. You are up against minimum $150,000+ professional builds around here. They win the awards and even sponsor the show in the first place in some cases! I have watched them being all brought in on covered trailers with their tyres wrapped in plastic as not to get them dirty, then carefully removed and everything is detailed many times during the show. I'm not even talking about the indoor shows either in the city, but country ones outdoors! I never set out to compete with them as don't have the connections they do either with the event organisers. So long as you realise this, you wont be disappointed. ;) I built it to please us and just to take part. We especially love the cars and coffee type events. Two things we both love. :)

I think you can trust people to have it high on the people's choice list.

The two photos really show a huge difference but some of the mods are now so subtle they're hard to spot.

Certainly something you can be proud of and you can have the benefit of being able to say it wasn't built by your chequebook, rather your own hands.

I think I would be putting some padding on the garage door frame, just in case I had a senior moment and opened the tourneau with the garage door open.
