Question for an Amigo, Will an FE big block fit between the shocker towers of a 1962 compact Ford Fairlane?
Cheers.

If it has tits or wheels, you can expect trouble.

Hi Twin Spinner,
I should say 'off the bat' that I don't actually know if an FE engine will fit in a '64 Fairlane, however I do have a '64 Ranchero (Falcon) and know how tight a Windsor is.
I will say that the FE may fit between the shock towers but you will still have to shave/modify them to fit exhaust headers, engine mounts etc. I thought the factory did a 427 FE in a Fairlane and called it a Thunderbolt. I would be researching thoroughly as to what they did to make it fit.

It would be a great conversion

Thanks Turns, under the bonnet the 62 aussie compact fairlane dimensions seem to be the same as our local made early falcons.
The late Cusso Bill talked about this engine swap on a forum years ago but I can't find it now, IIRC there was some surgery required on the towers. Cheers.

Re: Info Needed.
USA made Fairlanes did not have enough room for a FE until the 66 model year. Before that the front suspension was the same as the 63 Falcon.
People who think they know it all, bother those of us that do.

Thanks enjenjo, it looks like the too hard basket, maybe a 351 windsor would be a better choice for him.
