handbrake of a 54 F100

Post by timmo22 »

Hello for South Oz , I have a 54 F100 just wondering what handbrake arrangements are allowed ,
currently my build has none but I can put one in I guess before inspection .
South Aust specs talk about stopping but no mention of what you cant do as far as a handle under the seat ? or on the left or a pedal type ?

As long as it works it will be fine. You can use an Ebrake saves with handles or levers in the cab

Thanks for the answer Bob . The reason for asking is I put drop axles on my 54 ( with 76 Chassis ) to discover it would not pass regency . In the end a Jaguar front end took its place . Yes you may get away with drop axles if no Regency but I have to do that once Im to that stage .
I am slightly paranoid that anything will " not be passed " without checking first ,
I have an engineer I can ask but SO MANY questions !

I falcon handbrake setup is OK , the EBrake thing looks nice but a little pricey ? :(

so Thanks again :)

Probably the reason they are playing hard is because of the 76 chassis with 54 body. Technically could be classed as a re-bodied vehicle. Yes stupid i know but that's Regency for you. It will drive and handle much better with the Jag front end

If it was classified as a rebodied vehicle it would have to meet the ADR's for the date of the chassis.

Worth a real hard look before jumping in.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Why not use the original handbrake? I bought a universal cable kit and kept original handle, swapped it to the centre of the dash as I have converted from left to right hand drive and I didn't like it on the right as it felt unnatural and cluttered. Where I have mine is right in the middle under the dash. It sticks out like dog's cods, but I love it there. My wife likes it too, but maybe for different reasons :D Just kidding!
