1939 Chevy 2 Door

Post by 46OzHudson »

I've done it again....I've bought another project!
I didn't need another project but this thing popped up close to me and I felt like I needed to have it :?
Anyway It's a 1939 Chevrolet 4 door sedan converted to a 2 door with a 3" chop! 8)
Currently has a 302 Cleveland and Ford 9" diff on 4 link with jag coil overs! 8)
Front end is HK holden with P76 brakes and Commodore steering rack!
Pretty good head start I reckon (Hopefully not too much rework required!?)
Plan is to do a Street Rod build, try match the Blue metallic paint that the chassis is.
This will probably sit on the back burner till I get a bit more done on the Plymouth first.

Unloaded and came with a trailer load of parts!
I'm starting to think my place is starting to look like a car museum  or a scrap yard

The body looks quite sound. How is it for deep rust.

A Ford in a Chev, that's a change.

You can't have too many toys.

The bottom sills under the doors have some rust holes and the rear boot has the same but not too bad. Rear guards where they mount have a fair bit of rust. It came with multiple front guards so I'm sure I can make a couple of good ones. Also came with multiple light buckets to do the same.

Yeah not too sure how I feel about the Ford in a chev but it will definitely do for now.

Only problem with too many toys, is my toy box is too small

Nice future project, the chop and two door body proportions look good.

Great find! I am sure you will find time to do it justice.

Nice work so far too. Looks way better than a standard 39!

"Ford in a Chev"... As long as it works who cares? The score is 3 to 0 for the Ford...
9" diff, P76 discs and the Clevo. All ford!
Yeah. I've changed my signature. The old one was out of date...

Thanks guys

Unfortunately the 302 seems seized, I tried to turn it over by hand but it wouldn't move! Just started to over tighten the crank bolt
The previous owner bought it about 10 years ago and it has just sat around.

The seized engine could solve the Ford in a Chev conundrum?

Have you tried filling each cylinder with a bit of ATF and leave it for a few days. May be a minor issue or a rebuild.

I might have a bit more of a look this weekend but already have the 305 on the engine stand so if it's rebuild it will have to wait it's turn
