Good score for $50. A re skin with decent treatment and they should be good for many decades to come. Are you doing new replacements or refurbs, aside to the crusty parts , the main appears to be solid.

Hi Frank, the inside will get blasted and primed and definitely new door skins primed on the inside as well so I never have to worry about them again.

Unfortunately, the bonnet copped its fair share of damage on the front left in its life on the farm and will need some major repair or replacement. It's a shame because apart from surface rust it would have cleaned up well.

I managed to score another bonnet that was a decent price and delivered that I couldn’t refuse.
I’d heard lots of stories about EH bonnets tending to rust on the front edge due to fumes from the old style batteries, so I was keen to strip the front edge and see how it was.
The good news is the front edge is rust free and almost mint condition.

The bad news is that the bonnet had been standing up and exposed to some water in the back corners causing rust holes in the top skin. Looks like I might need to make one bonnet out of two, or if anyone has a good EH bonnet they want to sell, let me know.

I went to Rare Spares for the first time yesterday, I was like a kid in the candy shop.

Last year for my 60th birthday I got some Rare Spares gift vouchers that quickly got spent, knocking a few parts off the list for when the build gets serious.

Even I have gotten some stuff from there over the years for my build. I'm lucky that it is only 10 minutes from home.
